Musical Theatre

Kaylan Lindsay

Kaylan began dancing at the Lindsay Dance Studio at age 4, and got her first taste of acting while pretending to be Sleeping Beauty in Mrs. Mackey’s Ballet class. Growing up in Lindsay, Kaylan became a competitive gymnast and started coaching at 14, eventually becoming Nationally Certified to teach Gymnastics and Trampoline. Throughout high school Kaylan continued dancing, doing gymnastics, and performing in productions at the Academy Theatre. She was then accepted into the Musical Theatre Performance Program at St. Lawrence College, and completed this intensive 3 year program as one of just 15 graduates.

Kaylan then spent a summer performing with and choreographing for the St. Lawrence Shakespeare Festival, before moving to Toronto and then Winnipeg, finding her way into the world of professional Children’s Theatre. Playing such well loved characters as Jillian Jiggs, Franklin the Turtle, Uniqua (The Backyardigans), and Max (Max and Ruby), Kaylan travelled across North America performing at major theatres in every province and over a dozen states. Moving up the ranks to rehearsal director, and dance captain, she had the opportunity to take new shows from script to stage, creating characters and choreography, and also had the responsibility of adapting the show to each theatre while on tour.

Kaylan moved back to Lindsay in 2013, and began filling in when needed for the Musical Theatre classes at LDS, taking them over full-time in 2019. She still performs locally whenever possible with Triple Threat Theatre, and looks forward to her three children having the same artistic opportunities she did through The Lindsay Dance Studio.
